The Military Toxics Project used to be well respected both in and out of the military community since many of the military are environmentalists -- this report is not like a Moret/Rokke report, but it still puts a lot of weight on Saddam era so-called medical studies in Iraq and on claimed birth defects and photos taken during the Saddam era. There were no studies made in Iraq that can be relied upon and the Physicians for Social Responsibility should not use any of that "data" in reaching any conclusion. I fully agree with DoD coming clean with amount of DU usage, but I think that the screening of large numbers of personnel is a waste of tax payer dollars.

Subject: [du-list] FYI
PSR has been working for around 18 months on a report on health and
environmental issues surrounding the use of DU munitions and armor. We have put this report, thankfully now finished, on a new DU webpage on
our website. You can find it at:
http://www.psr.org/home.cfm?id=depleted_uranium
You should note that we have created a web action asking our members to contact their Representative to get them cosponsor Mr McDermott's
HR2410.
We will put a focus on this issue in the New Year, and it would be a
good idea I think for us to coordinate on that before we go ahead.
