Similarly, the University of Washington nuclear reactor was shut down in
1998 and as of 2003 the facility was scheduled to be decommissioned and
the site restored to match its surrounding by 2005.

The article makes at least one factual misstatement:
"At least 40 research reactors worldwide have already been converted,
including those at the University of Michigan, Ohio State University and
the Georgia Institute of Technology. The University of Florida and Texas
A&M are scheduled to convert their reactors next year, and more federal
money is budgeted to speed the work at the University of Wisconsin,
Washington, Purdue and Oregon State."
The Georgia Tech and University of Michigan reactors have been closed,
not converted to LEU. The Georgia Tech reactor had its spent fuel
removed in February 1996. I know, because I was there.
