RADIATION SAFETY OFFICIER

Manage the LRRI Radiological Control Program.  Support organization and
management in accomplishment of programmatic and operational missions,
including ongoing verification of regulatory compliance, proper
implementation of federal regulations, and Radiation Protection Program
procedures.  Manage assigned facility Radiological Control Program
funding/budget needs. Ensures facility ALARA Reviews adequately address
required radiological controls. Ensure all issues management concerns
are aggressively resolved and tracked.  Responsible for reviewing,
issuing, and renewing human and non-human use authorizations for
radioactive material use by researchers. In the performance of these
duties, the incumbent will assist, as necessary, in instrument
calibration, internal and external dosimetry, training, radiation
surveillance, radioactive waste, radioactive material
shipment/inventory, and machine audits/surveys.

Qualifications - Baccalaureate degree from an accredited university in
an applicable field of study is required. Masters degree preferred. CHP
certification preferred and 7 years experience or Advanced Degree and 5
years experience in a radiation protection program.

Minimum qualifications are a B.S. degree in physics, health physics,
nuclear engineering, or a related field and three years of professional
health physics experience in a clinical healthcare and academic research
environment; or Master's degree in physics, health physics, nuclear
engineering or a related field. 

License(s) or Certification(s) Required: Prefer CHP or NRRPT 

Decommissioning and Decontamination experience and working knowledge of
MARSSIM characterization and verification surveys a plus.  

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with
colleagues, staff members, researchers, and other members of academia.
Ability to give effective oral presentations. 

Skill in writing concise and grammatically correct documents. Ability to
analyze complex technical data using logic and quantitative reasoning
independently.
