[ RadSafe ] WG: Antineutrinos: You've Received A News Item From NTI

In the article, of which the URL is given below, it is claimed that
monitoring antineutrinos can be used to detect the amount of uranium-235
burnt in reactors and therefore determine the amount of plutonium (weapons
grade?) produced. 

 

I know, how difficult it is to detect neutrinos and remember well the
research institute and its accelerators in Japan and the detection chamber
several hundred kilometers on the other side of Japan, so this sounds to me
like “Star Wars” science fiction. Anybody at RADSAFE, who knows about it?
