[ RadSafe ] SI; Now or never?

My understanding is that the first bill to change the US to SI units was introduced in the early 1800s.  Still working on the details....

When will the US convert to the SI units? If I recall correctly, the
conversion was going to be completed in ~1990.

What is the current status?
