Dear RADSAFErs,

I forward my request to the TFP for information. I have not received any
answer from the addressees since then. Anybody having any information is
requested again to provide it. Any comments on matters I criticized heavily
(K-40, Chemiluminescence etc.) recently are not welcome.

Franz

Betreff: Tooth Fairy Project, request for information

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I noticed since several years the controversial issue of the TFP. There is a
large number of reports on your website www.radiation.org
<http://www.radiation.org/> to be found, but I miss a lot of information on
your website and related ones, which I would regard as essential to judge
the honesty of this project.

I find different information about costs of the analysis of one tooth – one
says US$ 90, another one 50. Connecting these figures with the number of
teeth to be analysed and adding the costs for PR, your website, personal
administrating the RPHP and the TFP I have the impression that the TFP is a
multi-million $ enterprise. This provokes the question about the financial
situation of the TFP. I wonder whether I could receive information about the
yearly income of RPHP and its spendings during the last years – I would
assume that like in Europe the finances have to be publicly accessible.
Thank you for this information in advance.

My second question has a scientific background. Since I am an honest person
I tell you that I am regarded worldwide as a well experienced person in
Ultra Low-level Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry, who has worked in this
field since 1978, according to some authors I have introduced the „art“ of
ULL-LSC. I have purchased altogether five „Quantulus“ and run them
continuously. We have done large research programmes on Sr-90 in food after
the Chernobyl accident, we have done research on Sr-90 in bioindicators from
the fifties to the nineties and of course we have followed the research in
many countries on Sr-90 in bones and teeth with much interest. My laboratory
has been heavily involved in the consequenes of the Chernobyl accident as
well as in radioecology including Sr-90-questions and additionally I have
been the head of the terrestrial working group of the International Mururoa
Project. I regard myself a specialist in questions of Ra-226 (and Rn-222).
Therefore I have to ask you about the analytical method used to determine
the Sr-90 in baby teeth. You may know that many scientists question the
results and claim, that Ra-226 interference has not been taken into
consideration. The only information I have at hand is a report downloaded
from http://unplugsalem.org/radioactive_strontium.htm. This information
would support this criticism. The comment, that tritium-free water was used
in the analytical process is another hint that the person behind this
analysis is not at all experienced in LSC – tritium would not interfere at
all with the determination of Sr-/Y-90.

I hope to receive your detailed answer within the next days. Otherwise I
might have to comment in my evaluation of the TFP that no answer was
received.

Best regards,
