Wouldn't it not be easy to test the welding teacher's theory? Just connect some titanium plates in close proximity to a TIG and see if they "receive" energy....should be valid, since human tissue does not attenuate or magnify the waves, just eliminate the face from the test.  As far as actual microwaves go, we all know the different reactions of flesh and metal.                                                    Ed Battle
