Ladies and Gentlemen,
Southern California Chapter of the Health Physics
Society will have a meeting on Wednesday, February 22,
2006. The speaker will be Barbara L. Hamrick of CA
DHS.
The subject of her talk will be: "The Implementation
of the Increased Controls for Radioactive Materials."
ABSTRACT:
Since September 11, 2001, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) and the Agreement States have worked
to further enhance the safety and security of
radioactive material in the United States. In July
2005, the NRC and Agreement States developed a plan to
transition many of the responsibilities for enhanced
safety and security from NRC to the Agreement States.
These responsibilities included the issuance and
enforcement of the Increased Controls for Licensees
that Possess Sources Containing Radioactive Material
in Quantities of Concern, which were issued to
California licensees November 15, 2005.
