Just a note that this varies from State to State among the 34 Agreement
States (i.e., those States in which NRC has discontinued their authority for
materials licensees), and one should always check with their regulatory agency in
this regard.

"There is no NRC requirement that an AU must render an interpretation of
a diagnostic image or results of a therapeutic procedure. NRC recognizes
that the AU may or may not be the physician who interprets such studies.
Additionally, NRC regulations do not restrict who can read and interpret
diagnostic scans or the results of therapeutic procedures involving the
administration of byproduct material to individuals." NUREG - 1556, Vol.
9, Rev. 1 (page 8-23)

This document combines and supercedes information found in Reg Guide
10.8 rev 2. (among others).

Cheers!
