[ RadSafe ] NPL Environmental Radioactivity Proficiency Test Exercise 2007

I am pleased to inform you that the 2007 NPL Environmental Radioactivity Proficiency Test Exercise will begin shortly.

The provisional timetable for the exercise is as follows:

Samples ready for despatch		March 2007
Deadline for submission of results	16 June 2007

The cost of participation in this exercise is £135 (excluding despatch) per sample.

Types of samples available:

Alpha High (AH): 	20 g aqueous sample, nuclides 1-20 Bq/g; Ra-226, Np-237, U-238, Pu-238, Pu-239, Am-241
			and Cm-244
Alpha Low (AL): 	500 g aqueous sample, nuclides 1-20 Bq/kg; same nuclide composition as sample type AH
Beta 1 High (BH): 	100 g aqueous sample, nuclides 1-20 Bq/g; H-3, Fe-55, Ni-63, Sr-89, Sr-90 and Tc-99
Beta 1 Low (BL): 	500 g aqueous sample, nuclides 1-20 Bq/kg; same nuclide composition as sample type BH
Beta 2 (B2): 		500 g aqueous sample, nuclides 0.1-0.5 Bq/g; H-3 (aqueous and OBT), C-14 (carbonate),
			I-129 and Cl-36
Concrete (C): 		crushed concrete sample (50 g) containing a variety of radionuclides including: H-3, C-14,
			Ca-41, Fe-55, Co-60, Ni-63, Ba-133, Eu-152 and Eu-154
Gamma High (GH): 	100 g aqueous sample, nuclides 1-20 Bq/g. Mixture of at least eight gamma-emitting
			radionuclides from the candidate list below
Gamma Low (GL):	500 g aqueous sample, nuclides 1-20 Bq/kg. Mixture of at least eight gamma-emitting
			radionuclides from the candidate list below

Be-7, Na-22, K-40, Sc-46, Cr-51, Mn-54, Fe-59, Co-56, Co-57, Co-58, Co-60, Zn-65, Sr-85, Y-88, Y-91, Zr-95, Nb-95, Ru-103, Ru-106, Cd-109, Ag-110m, Ag-111, Sn-113, Te-123m, Sb-124, Sb-125, I-125, Cs-134, Cs-137, Ba-133, Ba-140, Ce-139, Ce-141, Ce-144, Nd-147, Eu-152, Eu-154, Eu-155, Gd-153, Tb-160, Ho-166m, Tm-170, Ir-192, Hg-203 and Bi-207
