According to the U.S. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry's
"Toxicological Profile for Uranium" ,  the typical concentration of U in
soils is about " 4 ppm".  They go on to note that "[t]his corresponds to
around 4 tons of uranium in 1 square mile of soil 1 foot deep...." [at p. 2]

If the soil in Iraq also has these U concentrations, then there would be
about 675,000 (U.S.) tons of uranium already in the topsoil.

Mother Nature seems to have been the first "war criminal".
