[ RadSafe ] RE: [AMRSO] On This Day( NY Times) - Observation of Moment of Silence

We were met by protesters at the entrance to the Nevada Test Site this morning - all peaceful, as appropriate.

I can't help but see a grand irony here. These undoubtedly sincere people choose this occasion to express their displeasure with nuclear weapons, but it's not the bomb that's the problem. There's nothing that can be done to adjust the bomb to make the resulting deaths better or worse than other war-caused deaths. It is the act of war that is the problem, not the inanimate objects used as tools of war. I just don't understand the thought process that leads to protesting one type, but only one type, of weapon used in war.

The bombings were not a crime. They were an act of self defense. Japan attacked us first. We just ended it.

One crime does not justify another.
