[ RadSafe ] Gas Proportional Dectector - Mass Correction Sets

I'd say no, he does not want to do this. The curve is a different shape
for activity homogeneously distributed within an absorber, versus a source
with an external absorber.

Having said that, I also think Chris should be looking to make his own
standards, using the exact same planchets, and ideally matching the matrix
he proposes to analyse.

That's if he's doing what I think he's doing !

Christopher and Radsafe,

I am replying to all of Radsafe because I suspect others can learn from my
question (and your answer), not just me.

I am confused as to just what you are correcting for with planchets
containing Tc-99, each of different mass. Could you do the same with a
single Tc-99 source and a set of absorbers to place on top of the source?
Also, I would imagine the material (metal, plastic, etc.) and its density
would be critical to your purpose.

I wish you could describe the process and goal a bit for us.

Thanks.
Best regards, Wes

All,

This is for those in the United States. I am looking for a set of Tc-99
planchets to establish the mass correction curve for a gas flow proportional
counter. Each should have an activity of approximately the same (say 500
Bq) with linearly increasing mass.

Thanks in advance.
Respectfully,
Christopher W. Becker
