Dear friend,

I got the following details about PRM 610 from a website. The detector used is an internal pancake GM detector. I hope the information will be useful.

PRM 610 - Portable Radiation Monitor

     Displays
counts, count rate, dose or dose rate measured by an internal pancake GM
detector with a motorized energy compensating shield that converts counts to
dose

     Responds to alpha,
beta and gamma radiations

     Pre-settable dose rate
and count rate alarms

     20 cm 2
radiation window

     Integrated mode and
sounder

      Gamma dose
/ dose rate ranges : 0.1 to 1999 mSv and 0.1 to 1999 mSv/h

       Count rate
range 1 cps to 1999 cps

     Counts range 0.1
kcounts to 1999 kcounts

     Gamma energy range, 15
keV to 1250 keV

      Response at 3 mm
: 238Pu alpha : 0.27 cps/Bqcm-2

14C beta : 0.5 cps / Bqcm-2

90Sr/90Y beta : 2.7 cps/ Bqcm-2

Subject: [ RadSafe ] Nuclear Enterprise PRM 610

Dear Radsafers,

we have purchased a second hand radiation+contamination detector, Nuclear Enterprise PRM-610. We have calibrated it and it response quite well. The Operator's Manual is very concise and don't give information about the type of detector. It could be a proportional detector or a ionization chamber. Have any of you information about the type of detection? I'll be very grateful if you could give any more additional information about this detector.

Best regards from Barcelona.

Jesus
