[ RadSafe ] radioactivity of construction materials

Dear Collegues,

I need a quite urgent answer to the following
questions:
1. Is there in the US any regulation regarding the
radioactivity (natural or artificial) of the materials
used in construction (as briks, concrete, stones, sand
etc.)?
2.Should somebody give the original reference of the
EPA 4pCi/l radon action level recommandation? In all
the papers there is only stated that "EPA
recommends..." without giving the source (a
regulation, an EPA statement, etc.)
