Anybody interested in this - I told them it's not my thing, but they
have requested a recommendation for other possible speakers.

Subject: Invitation to speak
Dear Professor Dixon,
I am writing as Chair of the Committee on the Interests of Senior
Physicists of the American Association of Physics Teachers. The Winter
Meeting of AAPT will be held in Baltimore in January 2008, and the theme
is taken to be (loosely) physics and medicine, in light of the close
proximity of Johns Hopkins. My committee has proposed a session of "the
physics of longevity" and I am in the process of finding an interesting
panel of speakers. One of the subjects that came to mind was recent work
(by Cameron, for example) on the necessity(?) of low levels of radiation
for longevity. I'm not certain of the current status of this work among
experts, but I have an idea that a talk on the subject would be
attractive to the AAPT membership. You were recommended by Dr. Paul
DeLuca as being eminently qualified to speak on this topic. Would you be
interested and willing to deliver an invited talk on the subject?
Invited talks at AAPT meetings are 30 minutes including questions. I
have to tell you that AAPT does not pay expenses for invited speakers.
I hope to hear from you soon.
