[ RadSafe ] Dry ice blasting as decontamination technique

The technology has been around for about 20 years now and was proclaimed
to be the best thing since sliced bread....but I can't remember what
came up with it that became a concern, maybe the CO2 coming off with rad
constituents. I recall the many successful sand blasting operations I
saw in power industry, especially Steam Generator parts replaced that
were reading upward of 20R, and the sand blast always did a good job of
cleaning them up to free release, and the removed rad material
transferred to a nice tidy little bucket of sand. The company is still
in business but I think primarily head hunter now, should be on the Web,
Sue Opdyke I believe is still one of the long time employees. In my
opinion sand blasting is still the King and a proven technology that has
been around for a century and wil remain.

A firm in NJ called _http://www.icesolv.com/_ (http://www.icesolv.com/)
has
done a lot of this work. I have no interest in the company just worked
with a
guy that was related by marriage to a Principle. Never saw it used
myself.
