I like one quote in the USA Today article posted by Jim Hardeman:

"the government should invest in intelligence officers instead of
"pie-in-the-sky technologies that aren't proven to work."

Here's another thought:  The government should invest in HPs to staff
radiation control programs instead of handing out survey meters to cops and
firemen.  It should likewise assign security inspections of radioactive
materials licensees to law enforcement personnel instead of to HPs.
