For Peter Bossew, and others interested:
The tailings spill into the South Alligator river was not from Ranger,
but was 'legacy issue' from a very small uranium mine called Rockhole
that operated in the late 1950's under zero environmental controls, and
which produced a grand total of about 200 tonnes of yellowcake. The
tailings was discharged straight out of the mill onto the surrounding
area, uncontained by any dam. The tailings was cleaned up in the 1990's.
