The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has a job opening for a Health Physicist I. 
 
The job location is in Austin, Texas, and the posting will close November 4, 2008.  
 
The tentative functional title of the position is radioactive materials technical reviewer.  This individual will conduct technical reviews of reports, applications, and licenses for the possession of radioactive materials for the TCEQ.  This individual will assist with and conduct advanced radiological assessments, consultations, and data reviews for the radioactive material program, including by-product (uranium) recovery, and radioactive waste processing, storage, and disposal.  They will also assist with inspections, investigations, surveys, and sample gathering at licensed sites and during pre-licensing visits.  This individual will interpret and apply federal and state statutes, regulations, rules and policies; prepare related reports, correspondence, and evaluations; and participate in public hearings conducted by the commission, meetings with agency staff, applicants, licensees, government officials, and the public for assigned projects.  
 
The successful candidate will have excellent educational credentials as well as experience in the area of radiological regulatory review.
