Rainer quotes an article, stating:
"This suggests that nuclear power plants possibly are built preferentially
in regions, where the risk for childhood leukaemia is raised due to not yet
understood causes."
My response:
Or that the very IDEA of a nuclear power plant causes sufficient stress to
increase cancers.
That was tongue-in-cheek...mostly.

"Studies have been made in Germany and Great Britain, which found an
increased risk for leukaemia for children which lived in regions where nuclear power
plants have been planned but never have been built. This risk was
qualitatively and quantitatively similar to that found in the vicinity of existing
nuclear power plants. This suggests that nuclear power plants possibly are built
preferentially in regions, where the risk for childhood leukaemia is raised
due to not yet understood causes."
