staffing of large nuclear project including hiring over 300 RADCON Techs in

Primary Duties
 
Provide contamination and radiation exposure control.  
 
Perform radiological surveys in accordance with established procedures.  
 
Duties may include working with routine and/or special detection equipment
and may require use of respiratory protection.  
 
Other Duties
Perform special studies in the evaluation of radiological protection for
personnel, environmental, or plant areas; 
Participate in area-specific radiation worker qualification and
requalification programs; 
Prepare and maintain records and documentation as appropriate; and Provide
assistance in the preparation of radiation control documents such
as Radiation Work Permits, survey sheets, procedural documentation, etc.  
 
Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
 
Three years or more of related experience in health physics or radiation
control, sufficient to meet equivalency with the DOE Core Training
requirements for Health Physics Technicians (HPTs)
 
National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) registration
provides equivalency to the related experience and education requirements.  
 
Have and maintain a valid driver's license
 
Must undergo and pass a screening test for illegal/unauthorized substances
not more than three months prior to initial assignment; subject to random
drug testing during tenure.
 Must be able to pass the Hanford General Employee Training and obtain and
maintain a site badge.
 
Must be able to pass a medical/physical exam and background/security checks
 
Minimum Required Training
 
Candidates must be able to pass a comprehensive pre-work assignment written
Fundamentals exam upon arrival at the Hanford Site with an exam score of 80%
or better.  The four-hour exam covers both the theory and the application of
radiation protection concepts and principles.  It consists of approximately
150 questions including math calculations, short answer questions, and
multiple-choice questions.  Calculators are required but not provided and a
listing of formulas is included.  If requested, we will provide the

Location
HPTs will support the Tank Operations Contract in the 200E and 200W Areas
of the Hanford Site, approximately 36 miles north of Richland, WA.
 
The work locations include both indoor and outdoor assignments in an
industrial setting.  
 
Duration
 
Positions currently open with a period of performance through 9/30/11 
 
Hours
Workers are to follow the Hanford Atomic Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) Labor
Agreement including work schedules which are expected to be either four
10-hour days per week or a 9/8 schedule where personnel work eight 9-hour
days and one 8-hour day in a two week period.
 
Full-time contract positions with the potential of up to 5% overtime
 
Pay & Benefits
 
Wage = $32.317 - $35.378 per hour
Shift premium = $0.75 per hour when working other than a dayshift
 
Paid holidays = New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day,
Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Holidays (Thursday and Friday),
Christmas Eve & Christmas Day
 
Withholdings 
 
HAMTC initiation fee = $25.00 
 
Weekly agency fees/union dues = $16.38
 
Statutory deductions including Federal Income Tax, Social Security Tax,
Medicare Tax, and Labor & Industries Tax
 
Travel & Per Diem
 
Per Diem = $80.00/day
 
Candidate will be reimbursed for one-way travel to the Hanford Site and for
their time to take the prerequisite Fundamentals test if they score 80% or
better.
