Duh, they could be used to allow terrorists to see in the dark!!! [gasp] :-) Fortunately, you can still get the mantels on eBay, even if you can't get them at 7-11 for 59 cents anymore. You might have to outbid me, though, as I'm still working on my Small Modular Apartment Reactor - Thorium Fueled for America's Competitive Enterprise (SMART-FACE).
On the Newark airport panic, my wild guess is the laptop's wireless card was transmitting.
