Hi All,
I would like to formally introduce myself to the group.
I am Jeff Terry, a physics professor at the Illinois Institute of
Technology (IIT). IIT located in Chicago has a large Professional
Science Masters in Health Physics program, with a around 40 students
in the program at any given time. I teach the Health Physics
laboratory component of the program.
My active areas of research are strongly focused in the nuclear energy
arena. Three specific areas involve: the study radiation damage in
materials to try to develop materials able to function at higher
temperatures in the core of a nuclear reactor; the study
environmental fate of actinides and other radioisotopes; and finally,
basic research into 5f electron systems. I have spent time in both the
U. S. DOE complex and currently in academia.
IIT, with myself moderating, will take over hosting the RadSafe list.
We are currently in final testing for the transition that is currently
planned to occur over the weekend of Feb 27-28. We are attempting to
make the transition as painless for everyone as possible. It will
require a new RadSafe email address that we will be announcing
shortly. If anyone has any issues as we make this transition please
email me and send a copy of the message to David Ehle (ehle at iit.edu).
We will be making further announcements as the transition progresses.
I do hope that everyone currently participating finds their way over
to the new home of the list.
I think we should all thank Marcel for his efforts in running the
group for the past five years.
Thanks,
Jeff
