You might take a look at the neutron survey meter at Health Physics
Instruments (HPI) - Goleta,CA. It uses the Hankins modified Andersson
Braun moderator described in the Health Physics Journal and has superior
dose rate response compliance and reduced thermal neutron over response
compared to the original AB moderator or the spherical moderator.
For x-ray instrumentation I'd look at Keitheley.
