Dear Sandy,

You may recall that ICRP recommends a limit of  0.3mSv per year from a source/practice for members of the public. I am not sure whether there is a similar number in any US regulatory documents.

I wish they had used a more representative reference though. Stating that 25 mrem is considered the "safe" government value send a wrong message and will cause more public mistrust and even concerns about necessary medical diagnostic procedures.
