CME IMPACT: A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetic field on
August 5th around 1800 UT, setting the stage for possible geomagnetic
storms on August 5th and 6th. Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab
report that the impact may have compressed Earth's magnetosphere enough
to directly expose some satellites in geosynchronous orbit to solar wind
plasma. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras after
nightfall. Check http://spaceweather.com for more information and updates.
DON'T MISS THE STORM: Would you like a call when geomagnetic storms are
in progress? Storm alerts are available from http://spaceweathertext.com
