Radsafe,
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announces the availability of
the updated EPA Radiogenic Cancer Risk Models and Projections for the
U.S. Population (EPA 402-R-11-001, April 2011), also known as the Blue
Book.
This update revises EPA's methodology for estimating cancer risks from
radiation exposure and contains calculations for cancer risk estimates
separately by age at exposure, sex, and potentially affected organ. The
majority of the revision is based on the National Research Council's
latest report on Biological Effects of Ionizing Radiation (BEIR VII).
The Blue Book is available on EPA’s radiation protection website at
www.epa.gov/radiation/index2.html and in the Federal Register at
http://www.regulations.gov/#!documentDetail;D=EPA-HQ-OAR-2011-0436-0001.
Please feel free to share these links with anyone who might be
interested in the revised Blue Book.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact David Pawel at
