[ RadSafe ] Co-60 and Explosion

Have any of you heard about an explosion during the 2007 - 2009 time frame, outside the USA, possibly in Asia, involving Co-60, fatalities, outside aid workers and children being exposed, and being done on the hush-hush? I know someone who claims to have been involved, received chelating agents for a while and is now developing kidney, liver and blood issues. She won't give any more details but her boy friend is seeking help. 

I find it hard to believe that an incident that big could be covered up, but you never know.
