The Department of Health, Division of Environmental Public Health,
Office of Radiation Protection, is searching for a dynamic, high-energy
and committed public health professional for the position of Director,
Office of Radiation Protection.  This position is located in Tumwater,
Washington.  (Recruitment # DOH1864)

 

This position is responsible for policy development, decision-making,
and program implementation in numerous areas including: the federal
Agreement State program, radioactive materials licensing and inspection,
radioactive waste management, x-ray registration and inspection;
radioactive air emission policies and rules, environmental radiation
impacts, radiological emergency preparedness and response, and
information management and process development.  S/he develops statewide
policies, sets strategic directions/priorities, and allocates resources,
which requires a high-level of independent management and technical
expertise.  These efforts are directed at a wide variety of stakeholders
including other agencies, tribes, legislators, and the public in order
to implement actions that result in the reduction of human exposure to
radiation.  This position directs the Office's radiological emergency
response effort. 

 

The Director, Office of Radiation Protection is responsible for a staff
of 62, including managers and highly technical supervisors and staff.
This position is responsible for an annual operating budget of $10
million.
