it appears that under these laws there are bases for the charges against
the two men named in the article, whether or not the end result of the
conspiracy is plausible or possible.

This just goes to show how insane this country's reaction to 9/11 was.
Laws that criminalize bad intentions without requiring a predicate
criminal act are grossly unjust and amount to thought control. This is
characteristic of a totalitarian state, not the world's oldest
constitutional democracy.
As this is getting off topic I'll stop here.
