Hi Franz,

Yes, every 'Hiroshima day' our blatantly biased newsmedia tout the 
headline '6000 deaths this year from cancer' in Hiroshima (or whatever 
the number is, being the total, not base-rate-subtracted, cancer rate, 
for the population in question).

And yes, Celcius!!- 40 yrs ago in Papua New Guinea, ((an emerging nation 
blessed with 700 different languages and a colonial history featuring 
control by, variously, the brits, germans (until WW1), the aussies, the 
japanese briefly, then us aussies again)), we went metric, following big 
brother Australia, threw out the old british imperial units, and me and 
my mate hung a big banner on the second floor balcony of the Science 
Block, proclaiming "Fahrenheit is Dead, Long Live Celcius!!"

I wonder how many more years before the US will finally convert....

What about all the many tens of thousands of refugees flooding into Europe from the near East (Syria, Turkey, Iraq... even Somalia and Ethiopia)? Europe has at the moment a big problem, because there is such an ever rising number of people applying for asylum, Austria as a very small country is not able to accomodate all of them, not to ta!
