Dear Dr Mohan Doss,
Thank you for sending me a copy of the article in The NYT
It is a very interesting development. There are only very few newspaper articles in the mainstream media discussing such topics. One of them was the article by Dr John Cameron a few years ago. I used to have thought provoking discussions with him
It is appropriate that the discussions of this type is no more confined to the lecture/conference halls and to scholarly bodies. LNT is admittedly a deficient hypothesis. Lack of a clearly identifiable threshold may continue to baffle regulators and other stake holders.I am not very convinced that by removing ALARA may make much of a change in the minds of radio-phobic individuals! Major problem is the association with "nuclear bombs" which evokes notions of leukemia, premature deaths etc.
I recall that the NRC has once commented on the report of the French Academy a few years ago. NRC then decided to retain the dose limits
With warm regards,Parthasarathy
