Content preview: Dear Douglas I'm afraid I canât help you with that, but
I do share your interest in it. I have spent many years trying to understand
how the effects of natural and anthropogenic alpha irradiation depend on
the form of the source(s). In particular: what is the most carcinogenic way
of distributing a given number of alpha emitting atoms in the lung⦠hot
particles , warm particles or as individual atoms?? The official? line is
that atomic dispersion (as usually occurs with indoor radon and decay products
due to their monatomic state) is the most carcinogenic. However there are
reasons (animal experiments) to believe that the most carcinogenic distribution
may be as warm alpha emitting clusters; as probably occurs with the anthropogenic
atmospheric contaminants you are interested in. Best regards David Scotland
PS Good luck with your important quest (Iâll keep it in mind) [...]
