Re: Deal possible on German nuclear pullout-Schroeder
Radsafers,
Is a plant's full-volume operation equals calendar time minus outages
(maintenance)?
I had an impression that commercial vessel reactors are designed to last
30~35max years.
If it is so.
Wouldn't be this one more case when leaders of the "Greens" received what
they were looking for, place in the government, and now they do not really
care about their frighten of radiation electorate? Everybody needs a little
bit of Power.....sometimes.......
Or.
Al's idea is correct.
I understand, it is planned for the reactor to be replaced after 30~35 years,
the rest of the plant's equipment with the periodical maintenance's should
last 50~60 years??
They are driven the cost. Turbine+rest of the equipment about 50~70% of the
original total plant's cost X (60years/(60-30)years) = 25-35% less of the
total forecasted investments return = A higher cost of the electricity.
With an additional lost of 5 years as unused reactor time.

The government wants all the country's 19 reactors to be closed
within 30 years of their start-up. Industry has proposed a more
gradual exit, with one option being to decommission plants after 35
years of full-volume operation.
