Re: Wart Removal
The following statement can be found on page 460-461 in the book "Medical
Radiation Biology" written by Alexander Ellinger, published in 1957.
"Warts may respond to ionizing radiation. In the past, treatment of
plantar warts with radium radiation has been performed. While the
immediate effects were satisfactory, the long range results were
disappointing, leading occasionally to combination injury due to constant
mechanical irritation of the irradiated area."
I have seen radium plaques designed for skin therapies. One of our medical
physicists thinks low energy Grenz rays were used for this type of
treatment too. Maybe the person can remember whether the treatment was
delivered with a machine or a small rectangular plaque.
