RE: environmental sample volume

This question isn't as simple as a standard volume for water or any other
media. Laboratories base the required sample volume/mass on the client's
required MDC, the number of isotopes to be tested and the type of analysis.
Additionally, if non-rad testing is required such as metals or VOA sampling,
extra bottles of sample will be required from each point.

Is there a protocol that says you have to use a 4-L volume for
certain
environmental samples, like water? Why not use a 1-L sample volume?
