Position Opening for Medical Nuclear Physicist

POSITION: MEDICAL NUCLEAR PHYSICIST

LOCATION: ASSOCIATES IN MEDICAL PHYSICS, LLC, Cleveland, Ohio

Associates in Medical Physics, LLC (AMP), is searching for a board certified or eligible medical nuclear physicist to join our large national medical physics consulting group. Applicants should have an M.S. in medical/health physics and be board certified or eligible by the ABR, ABMP, AMHP or ABSNM.

Responsibilities include the quarterly evaluation of radiation safety programs in nuclear medicine facilities of all types, licensing, calibration of equipment and acceptance testing of gamma cameras and PET cameras. The successful candidate will also be able to review and assess regulations as they impact nuclear medicine and have knowledge of collateral regulations (DOT, EPA, etc.) that effect nuclear medicine. Further duties include shielding and ventilation calculations, clinic design, and air monitoring. Consultants also perform fetal dose estimates, quality assurance activities and sales presentations. Communication skills, both written and oral, are paramount. The physicist must be able to generate written reports regarding their findings in a timely manner, and be able to orally present their findings. Travel will be required.

Two other major components of our business are Radiology and Education. AMP offers educational courses for Physicians, Technologists, Pharmacists and Radiation Safety Officers throughout the year. This will afford the successful candidate the ability to use his/her oral teaching skills. Written teaching skills are encouraged through the writing of scientific articles and books. Members of the group have published books and six (6) peer-reviewed articles in the past several years, with many local, some national and a few international lectures. Publication is highly encouraged. A web page is also available (www.medphysics.com) for disbursing timely information.

Salary is commensurate with training and experience.
