Cal Rad Forum's Annual Spring Conference

Cal Rad Forum's Annual Spring Conference will take place on Wednesday and 
Thursday, May 3-4, 2000 at the Clarion Hotel, 700 16th Street, Sacramento. 

Speakers and topics for the formal program on Thursday, May 4, include 
(partial listing):

A panel discussion of the work of the Governor's Advisory Group on Low-Level 
Radioactive Waste Disposal. Panelists will include members of the State 
Advisory Group and its Scientific Panel; a representative of the U.S. Nuclear 
Regulatory Commission's Uranium Recovery and Low-Level Waste Branch; Don 
Womeldorf, Executive Director of the Southwestern Compact Commission;  Aubry 
Godwin, Director of the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency and a member of 
the Southwestern Compact Commission; and representatives of organizations 
that use radioactive materials.

Dr. Raye Bellinger, Chief of Nuclear Cardiology, Sacramento Heart Center, 
"Breakthrough Radiation/Vascular Therapies in the New Millennium."

Professor Dean Cliver, UC Davis School of Veterninary Medicine, "Food 
Irradiation: Legal at Last!"

Terese Ghio and Jon Dillon of Ligand Pharmaceuticals and Mark Thompson of 
IDEC Pharmaceuticals, San Diego, on the use of radioctive materials in 
biomedical research and the real-life disposal problems faced by real-life 
researchers.

Dr. Wade Richards, Director of the UC Davis McClellan Nuclear Radiation 
Center will discuss research underway at and planned for the McClellan 
research reactor.

The program will also include an update on the Central States Compact's 
lawsuit against the State of Nebraska.
