Chernobyl anniversary in Russian press

300,000 people died due to the Chernobyl Accident
The accident at the Chernobyl NPP happened 14 years ago.  It resulted in the
irradiation of 3,200,000 people.
Nearly 300,000 people died from radiation sickness.  In accordance with
statement of the Minister for Emergencies Sergei Shoigu, during these 14
years 55,000 'liquidators' died and 150,000 were permanently disabled.
There were 860,000 'liquidators' all together, as reported by the 'Novosti'
News Agency.
Radioactive contamination has spread over 30% of the territory of Russia,
23% of the territory of Belarus, 18% - Ukraine, 4.8% - Finland and 2.4% -
Austria.
The meeting at the Mitinsk cemetery in Moscow commemorated 14-th anniversary
of the catastrophe.  Similar actions happened in Ukraine.
