RE: Fluorescent Lights in TLD Handling Room



	Certain fluorescent lamps have an integral filter sleeve that blocks
essentially all emission below 400 nm.  Also, UV absorbing sleeves are
available to be placed over lamps, and plastic diffusers that block UV can
be obtained for flat bottom fixtures that use diffusers.  The new T5 (5/8
inch diameter) lamp type is available in metric lengths in North America.

	However, first determine the basic lamp type used by your
fluorescent fixtures; this is determined by the type of ballast.  Then
contact one of the major lamp manufacturers to see what options are
available.
