POSITION:   RADIATION SAFETY SPECIALIST
LOCATION:  Inova Fairfax Hospital, 
    Falls Church, Virginia

    This position in medical health physics is responsible for the daily 
radiation safety operations at the Inova Health System hospitals: Fairfax, 
Mt. Vernon and Fair Oaks. The position is located at Fairfax Hospital and 
works with the RSO and Head of Medical Physics to ensure that each licensee 
is meeting their regulatory requirements through  consultations and audits. 
Specific responsibilities include: the personnel monitoring program under 
contract with a commercial vendor, surveys of HDR and brachytherapy patients, 
record keeping for all radiation safety activities, training of nursing and 
technical staff in the principles of ALARA, and surveys of xray tubes in 
conjunction with the diagnostic medical physicists.
    Interested individuals should have a BS degree in radiation physics / 
technology or in a related field or 3 years experience in radiation safety or 
nuclear medicine.
    Fairfax Hospital is located in the No. Virginia suburbs of Washington DC. 
It is therefore very convenient to both the eastern shore and the blue-ridge 
mountains.
