Current U.S. regulations do not allow foreign generated radioactive waste to 
be imported into the U.S. without obtaining (and paying several thousand 
dollars) an import permit from the federal government. In order to obtain the 
permit, the importer must demonstrate that one of the existing radioactive 
waste land disposal sites will accept the waste for final disposal. It is our 
experience that none of the existing land disposal sites will knowingly 
accept foreign generated radioactive wastes for land disposal.

Sealed sources returned to a manufacturer are exempt from the import permit 
requirement.
