Used Geiger Counter
A clergyman friend of mine has a high degree of intellectual interest in
the development of nuclear weapons and in naturally occurring
radioactivity. He has been looking for a functional radiation detector,
preferably a simple GM survey meter, to experiment with on his own but
has been unable to find one in his price range. Does anyone know of a
source of older (i.e., low cost), used but functional equipment?
By the way, he has placed several unsuccessful bids on eBay where
CDV-700 GM counters from the 1960's go for more than $100 if they are
in working condition and $50 to $100 in questionable condition. The high
range ion chamber meters of that period (5 R/hr and 500 R/hr) go for $40
to $100 depending on condition also.
Since this probably won't interest too many Radsafers, please reply to
me at gnicholls2@home.com.
Thanks in advance.
