RE: Refractory bricks are Radwaste

Sorry no solution for your issues. A typical issue thrown up amo by the
tightening legislation. Encountered similar issues as well and as soon as
solutions are suggested, these are either excluded by the (competent?)
authorities or blocked by other indsutry/waste acceptors (fear for liability
issues?).
For reference purposes: refractory material - zircon-alumina-casting - as
measured in a Dutch glass furnace:
about 1.7 Bq/g U-238 and daughters (corresponding to about 50 pCi/g)
about 0.3 Bq/g Th-232 and daughters (corresponding to about 10 pCi/g)
So you are not yet dealing with the most 'active' refractory material.
