Gibraltar angry over stranded leaky nuclear submarine

A stricken British nuclear submarine is being asked to leave
Gibraltar, where it has been awaiting repair since May.

Residents and environmentalists concerned about possible safety
risks have threatened legal action against the British Navy if it
does not return the vessel to the United Kingdom.

i>HMS Tireless developed a problem with its nuclear reactor cooling
system back in May and it was towed into Gibraltar leaking mildly
radioactive water.

The emergency stop turned into a three-month stay, with the British
Navy planning to repair the ship there for safety reasons.

But residents of Gibraltar say in the interests of their own safety
they would rather the submarine move and are threatening legal
action against the British Navy if it does not remove the boat.
