Financial Assurance

A petition has been filed with the NRC requesting changes to 10CFR30.35,
regarding financial assurance for decommisioning.

NRC has assigned Docket Number PRM-30-64 to the petition.  The petition can
be viewed at the NRC website: http://ruleforum.llml.gov.  

NRC is requesting comments from affected parties.  Comments regarding this
petition can be made up to October 25, 2000.

1.  The petition requests a change to the rules requiring financial
assurance equitable for both large and small radioactive licensees.

2.  The petition requests a change to the rule to exempt licensees from the
requirement for financial security for greater than Class C waste where no
disposal options exists.
