Software for x-ray production

I'm looking for a program that will calculate x-ray spectra and dose
rates for arbitrary electrical waveforms, targets, geometry's and
filters.

There WAS such a program called TUBE that was a monte carlo code
developed at NRDL and was buried because they never finished the docs -
and didn't seem to want to share!

I'm wondering if maybe that or a similar effort has been resurrected.

Yes I know MCNP can do this - but I'd rather something more single
purpose and simpler - and that runs well on a PC.

If there is nothing then we will use MCNP on Unix.
