Although EPA continues to use 4pCi/L as an "action level" the Agency has
clarified that radon levels lower than 4pCi/L still pose a risk and thus, EPA
advises that the public may wish to consider reducing levels to between 2and
4pCi/L
EPA's threshold for action (4pCi/L) is not a health-based standard; rather,
its based upon technology available in the 1970's to reduce radon in homes
contaminated with uranium mine tailings.
