Clearly cause and effect here per the Rueters dub-in...

I would be curious to see the ecosystem characterization of the two 
individual plots.  Competing biota, species of actinomyces,  any heavy metal 
contaminants from the construction phase, soil contaminants from local 
industry, and so forth.

As an aside it might even be interesting to see a description of the seven 
steps of scientific proof that was utilized to arrive at the Reuters 
conclusion... 

Does anyone know of a link to Nature or has anyone seen the report yet?
